What We Believe

  What We Believe

What We Believe

·   The Bible is the sole source of all our preaching and teaching.
       (1 Corinthians 4:6;  2 Peter 1:16, 2:3; 2 Timothy 4:3)

·   Men inspired by the Holy Spirit wrote the Bible without human error or
       personal bias.  (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21-23; 1 Thessalonians 2:13;
       John 14:26; 2 Peter 3:16; Revelation 1:1,2; Acts 4:25; 1 Corinthians 2:13)

·   The Bible is first and foremost the revelation of God’s plan of salvation for
        the whole world, not simply a book of moral rules.   (John 20:31,31;
        2 Timothy 3:15)

·   There is one God in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  God is Triune.
        There is only one true God, the Triune God.  (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19;
        John 15:26; Acts 4:12)

·   The Father is fully God.  The Son (Jesus) is fully God.  The Holy Spirit
        is fully God.   (Deuteronomy 6:4; John 17:3; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1; Colossians 2:9;
        2 Peter 1:1; Acts 5:3,4; 2 Corintians 3:17; 1 Corinthians 12:6)

·    Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, earned salvation for all people by becoming
        a true human being, living a sinless life, fulfilling all the Old Testment prophecies
        pertaining to the Messiah, revealing that he was the promised Messiah and
        teaching the way of eternal life through faith in him, suffering the agony of hell
        upon the cross, that is, experiencing complete separation from the Father's love,
        dying phyisically, and rising victorious over death.  (John 1:1,14;
        Galatians 4:4,5; Romans 4:25; 5:19; Luke 24:27,44; John 3:16; Matthew 27:46;
        Isaiah 53:5; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:18,19; 1 Peter 1:3; John 14:19)

·    Eternal salvation cannot be earned by good works or by being a "good" person.
        (Ephesians 2:8,9; Romans 3:19,20; 4:1-3; Galatians 3:10,11; 5:4; Mark 10:18)

·    God’s undeserved gift of love to the whole world is that whoever trusts in
        Jesus as their Savior from sin will receive the benefit of Jesus' ministry, namely,
        eternal life.   (Ephesians 2:8,9; John 3:16; 5:24; Philippians 3:7-9;
       Romans 1:16,17; 3:28)
